Planning and conservation area consent has been successfully granted for a highly contentious rear and side extension to a locally listed Victorian High Gothic house in the St Albans conservation area. The property sits on a prominent corner site within a stone's throw of the new development at Gabriel Square. Considerable consultation with the planning department has taken place to secure planning permission.
The scheme looks to maximise the footprint and natural light opportunities to the existing north westerly facing basement by introducing a south facing extension with substantial glazing to minimise reducing the existing garden which is of limited size.
Building work is due to commence in 2019.
